We hosted an exciting programme of events in March. We hosted a Network Event in Westminster, a Beacon meeting at the Home Office, an Insight Hour webinar, no fewer than three roundtables, and launched a HR Charter against domestic abuse (more details below). We wish to extend a special thanks to our wonderful hosts and speakers who contributed their insights and shared their learnings.

If you did not manage to attend our most recent Insight Hour webinar on the long-term impacts of domestic abuse, you can watch the recording here. We will be sharing a written summary of the Insight Hour webinar (and other other recent events) in our upcoming newsletters.

We have published two expert interviews we hope will inspire you in your workplace response to domestic abuse: Vodafone Foundation Director, Lisa Felton, explains how employers can use the Bright Sky app as part of their domestic abuse response, and why EIDA membership is a crucial step for employers that want to take effective action against domestic abuse. HR professional and Chief People Officer, Bertie Tonks, shares his best tips for employers to make their workplaces safe and implement a response that provides to support to victim-survivors and also responds to perpetrators of domestic abuse.

A special welcome to Lorna Gavin, who recently joined EIDA's Advisory Council. Lorna has shown exceptional leadership in business and has considerable experience promoting award-winning social initiatives. You can read more about Lorna joining the Advisory Council here.

Best wishes

EIDA launches HR Charter against domestic abuse

EIDA is delighted to announce the launch of the HR Charter against domestic abuse, in partnership with Working Futures. The Charter was developed by and for HR professionals to stand shoulder to shoulder on the issue of domestic abuse. Whilst EIDA membership is for organisations, the HR Charter is a commitment for individuals to raise awareness of domestic abuse wherever they work. By signing the HR Charter, HR professionals gain access to a range of benefits, including all EIDA member resources and events. Crucially, they commit to be part of a UK-wide movement for change.

You can view the list of HR Charter signatories here.

The Silent Saboteur: Tackling Tech Enabled Abuse in the Workplace

This guest blog by University College London explores how perpetrators of domestic abuse exploit technology to control their victims, and how employers can be part of the solution.

Devices issued by employers, or digital services and spaces offered or created by employers, can be abused in much the same way. The effects of this abuse on the individuals involved can be devastating.

Employers can play a proactive role, as they are well positioned to support victims of tech enabled abuse in certain situations – such as identifying stalkerware or spyware which has been added to work devices, or creating a safe space at work where victim- survivors can access help.
