Session 2: Implementing your domestic abuse response and embedding it for the long term
The second session of the EIDA Foundation Programme focussed on how organisations move beyond initial implementation to ensure their domestic abuse response is embedded, sustainable, and effective in practice. We covered Phase 3 and Phase 4 of EIDA’s phased approach demonstrated in our EIDA Handbook.
Building on the foundations established in the first session, this part of the programme supports participants to strengthen their approach across the organisation. It explores how policies, processes, and people come together to create a response that is not only in place, but understood, accessible, and consistently applied.
Throughout the session, participants are guided to consider how their organisation can:
- embed domestic abuse into existing structures, processes, and ways of working
- build confidence and capability through training and internal champions
- develop clear, ongoing communication and awareness-raising approaches
- ensure employees know how to access support and where to go for help
There is also a focus on learning from survivor experiences and reflecting on what this means in practice for employers. This helps ensure that responses remain grounded, relevant, and centred on the needs of those affected.
As organisations progress, the session encourages participants to think about their role beyond their own workplace, including how they can contribute to wider change, share learning, and help raise standards across their sector.
As with the full programme, this session combines expert input with peer discussion, giving participants the opportunity to test ideas, explore challenges, and learn from other organisations at different stages of their journey.
By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer sense of how to embed and strengthen their domestic abuse response over the long term, and the practical steps needed to continue building on their progress.
