The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) is delighted to welcome the Ministry of Justice as our newest Beacon member. They join the Home Office as the second Government department to join EIDA’s Beacon Programme, demonstrating exceptional commitment to their employees impacted by domestic abuse.
The Ministry of Justice employs over 90,000 people and is responsible for the UK’s justice system. The MoJ is also one of the leading departments delivering the Government’s Freedom from Violence and Abuse Strategy (also known as the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy), having a key role in supporting victim-survivors and holding perpetrators to account.
“We are very pleased to welcome the Ministry of Justice as EIDA’s newest Beacon member. The Ministry of Justice is an essential ally in the whole-of-society response to domestic abuse, and we are delighted to join forces with them as they implement their workplace response to domestic abuse.”
Susan Bright, CEO of EIDA
"Becoming an EIDA Beacon member is a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting employees affected by domestic abuse. The impact of domestic abuse doesn't stop at the workplace door, and neither should the support people receive. As an employer of over 90,000 people, we have both the responsibility and the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our staff.
As a department at the heart of the Government's Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, we are committed to tackling domestic abuse at every level - and that starts with how we look after our own people. We are proud to stand alongside EIDA and the wider Beacon community in driving the culture change that victims and survivors deserve."Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Jo Farrar
EIDA’s Beacon members are our most prominent advocates. They are leading culture change among UK employers by influencing and inspiring workplaces to make a difference to the lives of employees impacted by domestic abuse. Beacon members work closely with EIDA and our wider membership of over 2,000 employers to respond to domestic abuse within their organisations, help to raise standards among UK workplaces, and inspire other employers to take effective action.
