• After the success of holding our meeting virtually in July, our Autumn meeting followed suit. We were delighted to welcome another strong panel of speakers, and over 450 member attendees.

Johnny Mercer MP, Minister for Defence People and Veterans spoke about the five year MOD’s No Defence for Abuse strategy and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to tacking action as an employer

Siobhan Sheridan, Director of Civilian HR, Ministry of Defence, built on the Minister’s address by outlining some of the measures the department has in place to support its employees

Lora Draper, Chief Executive, The Change Project and Paul Cheadle, from the Emerald Office, Bedfordshire Police, led a joint presentation on the twelve hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Training Course, delivered by The Change Project working in Partnership with Bedfordshire police. The programme educates perpetrators of domestic abuse, to increase understanding of what domestic abuse is and its impact, reducing the risk of re-offending.

Eve Critchley, Digital Innovation Lead, Hestia and Everyone's Business spoke about the successful launch of Hestia’s employer advice line and the role that multi-channel digital communications plays in tackling domestic abuse.

The questions raised by our audience were insightful, challenging and thought provoking. We were pleased to receive positive feedback from members who shared that the information supplied, the ideas sparked and the updates from across the sector are useful for their own work. The meeting was kindly hosted once again by Thames Water to whom we are grateful.

It is only by working together that we can achieve cultural and systemic change and we so we thank everyone who took part in the meeting.
